backbone as if the koshijutsu  is the backbone of all martial arts

Gypokko ryu has a rulethat states “ destroy the enemy’s power but leave his life”

Kukishinden Ryu Happo Bikenjutsu -- ( Nine Demons School )

Considered the main school that gives us our weapons practice in the bujinkan.

The hanbo and bo techniques are taught to all of the students in the bujinkan

This school uses many heavy bladed weapons that are rarely, if ever used by other

martial arts, such as bisento, kaginawa and daisharin

During the life of the school, it was employed by Japanese seamen to help protect

them against pirates. This greatly influenced the schools techniques and weapons.

The warriors of the kukishinden ryu are said to have used the mast and rigging

of the ships during combat

It is that the founder of aikido studied with the kuki family.

Gyokushin Ryu Ninjutsu -- (  Jewelled Heart School )

This ryu contains many special kicks, punchs and throws. One of the special teachings

of this ryu  is” from this side is not the first strike”

The footwork of gikan ryu is used widely within the bujinkan.

Shindenfudo Ryu Dakentaijutsu -- ( Immovable Heart School )

Shinden fudo ryu is broken down into two halves, dakentaijutsu and Jutaijutsu.

A characteristic of the school can be found in its recognition of natural style as the only

posture of defense . however , in reality a person imagines a posture of defense in his

nind and places himself on guard. The secret principle of shinden fudo ryu is the

principle of nature.

This school uses several different types of yari Ono( war axe) O-tsuchi(war hammers)

and naginata

Hojojutsu is also taught in this ryu-ha. It is used along sidetaijutsuto help restrain

the opponent.

The name of the school means to knock down the tiger with the tips of the fingers.

Koto ryu is base upon koppojutsu (bone attacking blocks) and directionally koto

ryu techniques are straight in, quicker, shorter and straight to the point.

Typical movements within the koto ryu is yoko aruki and stamping on toes. Always

make the eyes appear blank “ the eyes are everything.

Koto ryu has a uniqueform of swordsmanshipwherein the kamae and how the sword

was held where deliberartely altered versus traditional sword schools to give the

opponent the impression he was facing an unskilled adversary.

Gikan Ryu Koppojutsu -- ( Truth Loyalty and Justice School )

of this ryu is” from this side is not the first strike”

The footwork of gikan ryu is used widely within the bujinkan.

Takagiyoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu -- ( High Tree Raised Heart School )

Tagaki yoshin ryu take its techniques further then those of Judo or Aikido.

When the techniques are applied , it is made as diffcult as possible for your  opponent

to take ukemi. The opponent is thrown, locked and controlled close to the body as if

fighting in an enclosed space. You are training to use the opponents weight momentum

against him. In tagaki yoshin ryu , look at the eyes and use speed.

Kumogakure Ryu Ninjutsu -- ( Hiding in the Clouds School )

The taijutsu of kumogakure ryu is very similar to togakure ryu. One of the special

weapons of the ryu is the kamiyari hooked spear. This was originally designed for

climbing up the sides of ships, and it was also used against swordsmen.

Another specialty of this ryu is the demon mask sometimes worn by members of the

ryu. The idea of the mask may have given raise to the use of the kikaku den demon

horn strike head butt which is not commonly utilized in Japanese fighting systems.

The ninja of this ryu wore armoured sleeves to help protect them in combat as well

as for use in attacking. A taijutsu specialty of this ryu is that the kumogakure ryu

ninja would jump while fighting.
